Wow, it's odd that Sam Malone would end up on KHMX. The only reason he supposedly left KRBE was because he wanted to do talk radio. Interesting.

Malone is pretty light weight as far as dialogue goes. Just doing his gig is all he is up for.

I got a 'form' letter from the program director saying that they want to bring a more 'positive' discussion to Houston. Huh? I don't get that. I replied and told him that I and everyone I know would be switching elsewhere in the morning. Sad. I love R&R. I will follow them to whatever station they go to.

Dang, so R&R got dropped just like that! Didn't they just win something... what was it...oh yeah, the best radio show in houston?!?! What's up with that? Well, I've already switched to 97.9, I only listened to KHMX for them.

Sam Malone gets on my last nerve!! I was happy when he left KRBE. I enjoyed listening to Roula & Ryan in the mornings and now I tune in to Atom & Maria while I drive to work. They are begining to gel well together and are pretty darn funny. How great will it be if Atom & Maria can beat Sam Malone in the morning ratings and beat down that big ass ego of his while they're at it!

I didnt like Sam Malone when he was on 104 KRBE so I stoped listening to them and started listening to R&R. I guess ff that many people are upset about the change then the ratings for the morning show will decrease, I wont be listening I dont think Sam Malone is funny or intresting.

I started listening to R&R just before Sam left KRBE, and realized R&R was more interesting and kept me awake in those early hours in the morning, especially War of Roses. I cant believe they cancelled them. First Sam screws over Maria and now she screws over R&R, I hope his show fizzels out. At one time I liked listening to him but now he just SUCKS.

I can't stand Sam Malone. He gets on my last nerve with all of his close minded ways of thinking. I don't want to start my day out with someone like him ... I'd rather listen to Roula and Ryan and actually laugh!

I'm very happy to see Sam moving on to something else. He seems like a genuinely good guy to me and regular krbe listeners will certainly tune in to hear that oh so familiar voice. Unlike what seems to be most people here, I'm not a R&R fan. I just found their voices to be very annoying and tried to avoid hearing them as much as possible. Sam rocks.

I too was extremely disappointed that Clear Channel terminated Roula and Ryan. They are great.. and Eric too. I emailed their program director and received the same basic message. The growth they are looking for won't happen. The guy drives me nuts.. didn't like him on KRBE either. Clearly a very poor decision by Clear Channel.. they lost me too!!!!!

I loved R&R in the morning. When I turned on my radio on Wednesday and heard constant music, I knew something was up. Then I heard they replaced them with Malone. I never listened to 104 in the morning because I couldn't stand his morning show. Great... now what do I listen to? Dean and Rodge?

I was a huge fan of Sam and Maria on KRBE and got tired of Sam Malone being on his soap box every morning. Roula and Ryan were much more entertaining! Now I'll only listen to KRBE (which is way better without Sam). Hopefully his new show will be canned!!

What a total bummer! Today is my birthday and what a horrible way to start it off without my R&R show! You don't realize what something means to you until it's gone. They've kept me laughing and smiling every morning for years. I even got my husband stuck on it! I wish them the best of luck and hope they return real soon! Until then.. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!! I have loved Ryan Chase ever since I met him way back in the day and Roula was just sooooo much funnier than Sam and Maria. How greedy is Sam Malone? First he left KRBE abruptly and then went to AM then comes back at Mix? I use to listen to him when I was in high school but now he is way too political. If I wanted talk radio in the morning with commentary, I turn to the AM but R & R just made me laugh. Now this new chick and Sam are BORING!! ADAM AND MARIA ARE BORING and if you noticed, Maria isn't laughing much anymore. Now what do I do? I hope they get a spot at 107.9 since they are 80s junkies anyways! I use to listen to Sam & Maria for 11 plus years and then Sam left the show just like that. Totally screwed Maria over. Then I started listening to R&R in the mornings and now they're kicked off for Sam.

The R&R show was a tepid, boring, little piece of fluff which, quite frankly, didn't belong in the Houston market. The only surprise was that it lasted nearly five years. Maybe now Houston radio can grow-up and compete with other cities such as L.A, New York, and Chicago.

I am devastated! The roula & ryan show needs to come back! I can't believe KHMX did that to them - the #1 morning show in Houston last month! - does that not count for something??!??

I'm very excited that Sam has returned to morning radio. I don't care for the volgar comments and language of Atom or the DJs on 94.5 in the mornings especially with my kids in the car. It's sad that you can't listen to the radio and not almost get into a wreck because the DJs start talking about adult topics with adult language and you can't reach to change the channel fast enough. I like the respect and dignity that Sam pours out....I feel happier and I am reminded that I should be proud to be an american when I listen to him! Welcome back Sam!

I guess I better buy some more cds to listen to on my way to work in the morning. I loved R&R. All the other radio stations don't give me the good vibe they did. Fluff, someone mentioned above. Well, if I wanted to listen to what Sam Malone has to offer I'd switch to AM in the morning. I'm also not willing to listen to some right-winger spouting off.

I thought it was rather crummy to both R&R and to their listeners how they just dropped them like that. I certainly didn't have any warning, and the surprise of Sam Malone was certainly not a good wake-up call.

Obviously 96.5 has little regard to their listeners. Because of this, I'm looking elsewhere for morning radio talk.

Sorry, but I think good riddance to Roula and Ryab. Ryan is too shallow for my tastes and Roula is either incredibly stupid or playing up at being an incredibly stupid utterly naive person. I really hate their show and hav listened to it since I could find nothing else to get me up in the morning. Here's some instances of how shallow Ryan is - he had a go at a guy in New Orleans who was shorter than him because the guy had looked after himself and done some body building. Erm... well as for Ryan that sounds like he has an inferiority complex that makes him have to look for other people's differences. Other instances of this man doing what High School students do to anyone different is to pick out differences, such as accusing woman of going out with less attractive women in order to get dates. That is incredibly shallow and wake up Houston the majority of Houstons women are not 10's or supermodels so at the end of the day you are the ugly friend. In short I consider him a complete jerk. Roula has the naivety of a High School student. Otherwise can anyone really be that stupid? I won't even bother mentioning Eric, that guy is a complete waste of time, he opens his mouth and one of two things happens, out comes an meaningless unfunny attempt at humor, usually at the expense of the last caller, or he says something as shallow as Ryan. Recently he joked about one of the callers parents had died. Erm... Come on, get these people off the radio for good, or at least until they learn some manners.

Do you really imagine anyone in Houston would be so stupid as to fall for that (out of lack of knowledge) when it's on the radio every morning?

7 years ago I started listening to KRBE and instantly fell in love with Maria and learned to stomach Sam. But as I became more aquainted with my new city the more irritated I became with the moronic Right-winger SpAM. I couldn't handle his homophobic, male chovonistic, doom and gloom comments. Everyone has an opinion but his constant harping on his "personal" issues was a real turn-off. I was pleasently surprised when I rolled across the dial and found Roula and Ryan. They reminded me of the FUN morning shows I was used to back home. KHMX instantly became my new spot while driving to work. Honestly in the last couple month I have jumped from R&R over to Rod Ryan on 94.5 and then discovered Maria and silly Atom on KRBE. Great I had three stations to listen to depending on my morning mood. But now the snake (as big as he and his ego are let's call him a python) has wormed his way back to FM radio and I will NEVER tune in to KHMX unless I want to give someone an example of what a close-minded right-wing pig sounds like. Good luck Clear Channel you will need more than that from me and a million others in Houston.

I am very sad to see R&R go! I loved listening to them in the morning, they made my 1 hour car ride in traffic okay. I hope they get put onto another station and I will follow them. I do not listen to Mix anymore, as Natalie voice is like nails on a chalkboard and Sam is about as entertaining as watching mold grown. As to Adriane and "Not an R&R Fan", why are ya'll so hostile. IT WAS A RADIO SHOW! If you did not like them turn the channel! Adriane said " If you had listened carefully to the show you'd hear the same voices over and over." I think that R&R's ratings slumped because Ryan could be so offensive. I found him to be very egotistical and downright horrible. Main things that stick out in my head were his comments on the Bratz dolls being geared towards the minority girls and the dolls were ghetto. My daughter plays with them and we are not poor nor ghetto. 2nd was his view on the cheerleading dancing being toned down. He thought it was ridiculous, and that it's alright for young girls to beg for the negative attention that dancing provocatively brings. I don't see how any one likes the guy. I think that he got his. BUT on the other hand, I don't think that Sam is the solution. He is OLD. And I think he needs to be on 107.9. THE OLDIES STATION. YUK. Didnt' like him on 104. What a shame Roula & Eric ultimately paid for this whole thing. I didn't listen to 96.5 in the mornings other than Thursdays. So it's not a big loss to me. Just kiss the station goodbye as you all know it. I see the format changing really soon.

Roula & Ryan had a great show, they were very knowledgeable about current gossip, events, places to go, etc.

I was never a big fan of Roula & Ryan but would prefer them over Mr. America Sam Malone. I could never stand his ridiculous comments about how this country is so this and that..blah blah. I found out this past Sunday that Sam Malone would be replacing R and R. And to tell you the truth it was quite disappointing. Out of all of the morning shows this was the only one that I listened to. I really do hope that R and R will back on the radio soon in Houston but until then I will be listening to my cd's everyday in the morning.

The comments in favor of R&R are like 20:1. It's so obvious that there are tons more R&R fans out there than decrepit SM fans. I am very disappointed and disgusted with this change. It is one thing to get rid of a GREAT morning trio, but to replace them with the MUNDANE banter of Sam (of course most of the time he is sipping on his coffee and smacking his lips rather than talking) is an insult! I hope they find another station, 96.5 doesn't deserve to have them back!

I used to listen to Sam, Maria & Robbie on 104 when I first moved here, over 10 years ago. I actually liked that the show was a little more wholesome than most (and so could listen w/kids in the car) but still played cool music. Then, one time Sam made fun of the janitor that they had doing to weather, like he was a yokel and ignorant because he spoke slowly and with a strong Texas accent. That started my disenchantment. Then, he was going on one day about how they all knew that some of their collegues were going to get the boot and he said "I won't say who, but watch out Mix morning show." I found that to be so rude and cocky that I SWITCHED to R&R at that point. I boycotted 104 before Sam left, and I won't be listening to Mix anymore. I too emailed the program director and got the bull-hooey response that everyone else got. No, Mr. Program Director, I WON'T be "giving Sam a listen" because I didn't like him at the other station he worked at.

I sure hope R&R & Eric land somewhere that appreciates them as much as their fans on this page do. Maybe I'll give Maria & Atom a shot in the meantime...

I'm extremely disappointed with the Switch from Roula & Ryan to Sam Malone. I'm will not be listening anymore to 96.5 anymore. The R&R show was much more entertaining. I think this town has enough conservative commentators on the AM channel. Clear Channel obviously doesn't believe in fair and balanced programming. Most of us folks don't want to hear about politics on FM.

I am very upset that Roula & Ryan are gone! I have a 50 minute commute in the morning, and they are funny and interesting. Sam Malone almost made me fall asleep this morning while driving. It was awful. They play horrid background music and there is too much dead air. I will be finding another radio station. Does anyone know the email for the production manager at KHMX?? I couldn't find it, and on the website when you hit the "contact us" button, nothing happens. Guess they don't want any negative commentary...

I say everyone call into other morning shows, whatever alternative (however incomparable) to R&R that you listen to now, and let them know you're a new listener b/c you refuse to listen to Sam Malone on KHMX.

They can take away our favorite morning show trio, but they can't take away our voices.

Although i'm not a R&R fan it still sucks that they took them off of the air without any reguard to the listners, I remember when over night rock 101 was gone and i was like oh man what will I do... I moved on to 94.5 the buzz and thats where i'm sticking, but I love Sam Malone and will probobly listen from time to time... Get them off the air. Natalie is not funny and acts like she has never been on the radio before. The "star files" (her voice) is so annoying it hurts! and it takes her forever to say what she wants to say. You have lost a listener. Also, pretty crummy how it was so sudden without any notice to the devoted listeners. Like I said, you have lost a listner. Oh! and i have NEVER cared for Malone, EVER!

I agree that Ryan was obnoxious, closed minded and arrogant. Additionally, for a professional communicator, his speaking skills were unbelievably awful. He said "You know" and "like" more than any imaginary Valley girl! A week has passed since the beloved R&R was abruptly removed from the airwaves of Houston. I am a firm believer that actions speak louder than words. To the persons that have written before me I am in agreement that all ex listeners of the R&R show should tune into Atom and Maria. They are better than what is now playing in the mornings on KHMX. For not all listeners are of a particular race, household income, etc. Just remember the old sayings "what goes around comes around" and "the persons you fuck over to get to the top is the ass you’ll be kissing on the way down".

What is up with this chick? All she does is repeat what Sam says in a sing-song voice. It's absolutely annoying. She said the other morning that her son apparently spoke like that to her so "It must be catching on". Nope, no way! I think R&R should have been left alone and Sam & Maria too.. Two different groups that worked well together for two different types of people. These radio stations should listen to their listeners.. we're the reason they stay in buisness..

I am not a fan of Roula, but I thought Ryan's comments were always spot on. She seemed to me to be very combative and irritating. He always seemed to me to the better analyzer of the two. But in any case, I have to admit I enjoyed their show quite a bit. I always thought Sam Malone and his "See Ya" schtick were very juvenile.-Ultimately, I think this will prove to be the downfall of his morning show on KHMX. It's a totally different demographic, and it would appear that no one took that into account in replacing R&R with Sam Malone. One of the things I really liked on the R and R show was the daily discussions of morality-based issues. I liked hearing callers chime in their viewpoints and was interested to note that most people had a pretty firm grasp on decent behavior. In contrast, KRBE was more known for its celebrity gossip and the "Hollywood dirt". I just think the target audiences for each, while definitely there was some crossover, were by and large different. It's really unfortunate that someone at Clear Channel who had the power to make the change (who my guess is probably had a friendship with Sam Malone) made the decision to end the R & R show. To my mind, it isn't that the R&R show was not without faults. And I DO think that there was some negativity to the show that could have been mitigated more often. But, at the end of the day, it was just a more intelligent, enjoyable, entertaining, and *adult show* than that put on by Sam Malone. I think the decision to replace them *with him* was probably a mistake.

I am sorry to see R&R leave the airwaves so abruptly. I listened to both morning shows depending on my mood, but I am leaning towards R&R's side simply because of the way they were taken off the air. At least Sam had a choice on where he wanted to be. R&R definitely got taken. I actually feel bad for 96.5 for the poor handling of the situation.KHMX will surely be losing listeners simply because they didn't...LISTEN!

Sam and Maria were great because Maria was the heart and soul of that show. When he betrayed her and all of his listeners to move to talk radio I was shocked. The to find out he thought he was to good to play a 50 Cent record after attending political events. He was a jerk then and is a jerk now. And that Natalie woman, could she be anymore annoying? Wait Natalie don't answer that. Finally can you say hypocrite??? Was it not Sam who referred to Clear Channel as the Devil?? Was it not Sam who always made comments about their contests being national and not local??? Well Clear Channel is the Devil and Sam Malone has sold his soul!!!

Don't like Sam, really miss my morning show. Loved Roula and Ryan. I actually left Sam once before and that is when I found Roula and Ryan. I left him and never went back and now I've left Clear channel.

What a horrid morning show it is now! Sam's schtick is old and boring -- like 1995 instead of 2005. And I can't believe they pair him with that traffic chick Natalie. She is almost incapable of making an intelligent or funny comment herself. I guess Sam thinks he can make it with a "Ed McMahon" sidekick. He is no Johnny Carson. At least Maria Todd had some spunk and added something to the old Sam Malone Show.

It does make you wonder if Clearchannel is trying to purge any non-Rebublican air talent. I can barely think of any talent on their many stations that could even be described as politically moderate.

I was very irritated when Sam Malone left KRBE. I thought that the Sam and Maria duo was Gold, and you would have to be quite an ego-maniac to think you could beat that gig on your own. I was always a fan of his, until I found out he was on khmx. Maria's direct competitor? Does the man have no loyalty? What a jerk. He has become way too political lately anyways, best of luck to Atom and Maria!!!

I am very disappointed. Rula & Ryan was the only morning show that I've liked in years!

For those of you who are missing the R&R show on 96.5, you ought to listen to the Walton & Johnson show on FM 103.7. I tell you, after you hear the W&J show, you will wonder why you were listening to the R&R show.

The Walton & Johnson show on FM 103.7 is the BEST.

I am a big talk radio fan and listened to Tom Martino religiously. They moved Tom and put that IDIOT Sam Malone in that time slot. I've emailed the program director but nothing. His jokes are stupid and the people that call into his station never get is jokes ---- I guess the callers are too smart for them, which isn't saying too much. Sam, Go Home! If you like talk radio, Debra Duncan is someone you could tune into. I think that she should get Sam and Chris's time slots.

Glad to see Sam Malone go. Annoying and full of himself. Was turned off since the Enron fiasco. He used the radio to cry about loosing his $250,000 in stock. So sorry,at least he still had a job. Just wish they would take his fat face off the houston billboard at 610 & I10 exit.

Go to satellite, it's only $150 a year and you get real choices in music and talk, not just the Garbage Clear Channel force feeds you. Got my Sirius to listen to Howard Stern but i've got to say, i love all the other stuff Sirius offers......commercial free!

I also loved the R&R show. I looked forward to listening to them every morning. I even set my alarm to KHMX so I would instantly hear them when I woke up. I can't stand Sam Malone, and I can't stand that they replaced R&R with him. He is so dull. I will never listen to him or KHMX in the morning again, it will just never be the same again.

I sincerely miss Roula and Ryan in the morning on the way to work, Sam Malone should have gone to a talk radio format show, CC has def pissed me off with their choice of morning broadcast hosts on 96.5
