I suppose it was to be expected that the recent Iowa Supreme Court ruling that struck down the state's law banning gay marriage would drive certain people to even greater heights of absurdity. I still confess to being taken aback at idiots like Rep. Louie Gohmert, whose worldview is so bizarre to me that I'm not sure I can see a path to a starting point of comprehension of it. I don't know that there's anything that really can be said to this, so just click over and see for yourself.
Posted by Charles Kuffner on April 06, 2009 to Show Business for Ugly PeopleI guess that the facts that parents continue in this day and age to leave their kids alone in locked cars w/o the A/C running, Congresscritters from both parties have abandoned any pretense at fiscal responsibility, and our business 'leaders' are busy raiding the corporate coffers (and the 401Ks of a lot of future retirees) to line their own pockets, none of these have anything to do with it - it is all the fault of those darned gays who want to get married!

Posted by: EdT. on April 6, 2009 8:34 AMYears ago an otherwise extremely intelligent African-American woman told me that she was a Christian and so she didn't believe in homosexuality, a curious statement in itself, to which I replied that I was a Christian also and believed in the Curse of Ham and so what she did or did not believe in really didn't matter. My point being, which I doubt she understood, there is no prejudice more irrational than religious prejudice.
In a perfect world Antonin Scalia would announce that the Supreme Court had decided to ban religion and the Republicans Party.
Of course in a perfect world Ruth Bader Ginsburg would then announce that the Supreme Court had decided to ban the Democratic Party as well.
It is not a perfect world and we are not a perfect union or a perfect society but so far we've managed to maintain some of the ideals of the founding fathers despite the efforts of the Louie Gohmerts.
