Interview season

We may be just two days past July 4, but it’s time to focus on the upcoming November elections. In particular, that means it’s time to start doing interviews with candidates for city offices. I’ve got a few lined up for this week, and will start publishing them next week. I realize it’s four months till Election Day, but there’s maybe 30 or so candidates to talk to, and that means I’ll need to run two or more a week through November 3 to fit them all in. So get ready, because here they come.

I have a pretty good idea what I’m going to be asking folks, but if there’s a topic you’d like for me to cover, leave your suggestion in the comments and I’ll see what I can do. If you’re a candidate for Council, drop me a note at kuff – at – offthekuff – dot – com and we’ll set up a time to talk. Thanks very much, and I hope you’ll enjoy the interviews.

One Response to Interview season

I’ve often wondered why budget concerns are almost always framed as services vs. taxes. No one ever talks about cutting governmental overhead. From my point of view as a county highway engineer, I’m amazed at the amount of red tape and “administrivia” we have to deal with. For example, why do federally funded bridge replacements cost twice as much as similar locally funded projects?
