I’ve heard it said that “The Stars And Stripes Forever” is the greatest piece of American music ever written. It’s certainly the most recognizable, and as you can see below, it’s pretty versatile as well:

    At the end of every public radio pledge drive out here the DJ plays it. I think the version they use is Horowitz’s.

    I wondered a while back why we never hear any new marches. I love Sousa, but is there no incentive for new composers to write marches?
