When I started this “ten songs that start with the same word” theme, I figured I’d only have trouble with some of the higher-scoring letters in the Scrabble game. Turns out one of those troublemakers is the letter F for me. I couldn’t get anywhere near ten songs that started with the same F word without some truly egregious cheating. So I tried some variations on the theme to see if I could get ten words of the same type without too much weaseling, and the closest I could come to that is ten songs that start with a name that begins with the letter F. Hey, you do what you have to do.
1. Fanny – Asylum Street Spankers
2. Finnegan’s Wake – The Mollys
3. Flintstones – Trinity University Jazz Band
4. Florence Quits – from the “Chess” soundtrack
5. Fluffy’s Master Plan For World Domination – The Bobs
6. Frank’s Tavern – Calexico
7. Frank and Jesse James – Warren Zevon and Jackson Browne
8. Frank Sinatra – CAKE
9. Frankie – Bruce Springsteen
10. Freddie’s Dead – Fishbone
Yeah, I know kinda lame. Who’d have guessed the letter F would be the first to trip me up? Maybe this will make it up to you:
And, of course, the companion piece:
Yabba dabba doo, y’all. Whatcha got this week?
