It’s good to be the king

From TPJ:

Governor Rick Perry has received $17 million in campaign contributions from his political appointees and their spouses, according to a new report by Texans for Public Justice. One out of every $5 raised by Governor Perry since 2001 has come from appointees or their spouses.

The full report is here. Obviously, many of a Governor’s appointees – or a Mayor’s, for that matter – will come from his or her biggest supporters. Perry just takes that to a higher level. It’s about being a crony first, with all other considerations secondary to that. Check it out.
