Also running to reclaim CD23 for the Democrats is the man who last held it for the Dems, Ciro Rodriguez. Rodriguez served five terms in the State House before being elected to CD28 in 1996, where he served until being defeated by Rep. Henry Cuellar in the 2004 primary after the DeLay re-redistricting. He then won a special election in 2006 in the re-redrawn CD23 and served two more terms. Rodriguez was a member of the House Veterans Affairs, Armed Services and Resources Committees while in CD28, and Vice Chair of House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security and a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee during his terms in CD23. He has also been Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Here’s the interview:
