Cruz proposes five debates

All on Fridays, but at least he’s offering something.

Rep. Beto O’Rourke

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has challenged Democratic opponent Beto O’Rourke to five topical debates before Election Day, about three months after O’Rourke challenged Cruz to six.

Cruz strategist Jeff Roe sent a letter Wednesday to O’Rourke, an El Paso congressman, proposing the following debate schedule:

  • Aug. 31 in Dallas on “Jobs/Taxes/Federal Regulations/National Economy”
  • Sept. 14 in McAllen on “Immigration/Border Security/Criminal Justice/Supreme Court”
  • Sept. 21 in San Antonio on “Foreign Policy/National Security”
  • Oct. 5 in Houston on “Energy/Trade/Texas Economy”
  • Oct. 12 in Lubbock on “Healthcare/Obamacare”

Roe said the debates would all take place on Friday evenings “because the Senate is expected to be in session during that time.” The debates would each be an hour long and vary in format — some would be town hall-style, while others would feature the two candidates seated or standing at podiums.

“As Senator Cruz has long believed, our democratic process is best served by presenting a clear and substantive contrast of competing policy ideas, and these five debates will be an excellent way for both you and the Senator to share your respective visions with Texas voters in the weeks leading up to the November election,” Roe wrote to O’Rourke.

See here for some background, and compare Cruz’s response to Dan Patrick’s sniveling wimpery. Maybe someone should email that last paragraph to Allen Blakemore and ask him what Danno thinks of that. Obviously, Cruz can’t hide behind the “unknown and underfunded opponent” dodge, but does anyone seriously believe that people are less familiar with where he stands versus where Dan Patrick stands? Ted Cruz is many lousy things, but on this one issue he’s at least not a chicken. The DMN has more.

If the poll mentioned in article prior to this was not close to reality would Rafael be offering five debates? Beto is doing one on one, Cruz needs exposure, but primarily he needs to spread the lies a la his master, Trump.

  2. C.L. says:

@Manny…. just exasperating. We get it – you’re not a fan of POTUS, but everything doesn’t circle around back to him. Try to look at Cruz like the stand up loon that he is.

  3. Manny Barrera says:

C.L. opinions are like ass holes, everyone is entitled to one. Or if you prefer every man likes the smell of his own fart.

However, you don’t understand what I am doing, nor do I explain why I do things to people that would probably not understand anyhow.

But here is a hint, publishing here is good as it will soon make the world wide web. Here is another Trump repeats his lies for a reason.

Politics at this point in time does circle around to the Russian puppet/Trump. Right now suburban women are trending almost 70% against Trump.

But C.L. in your great wisdom why do you think there is poll that shows Beto within 2 points of Cruz? Do you ever think about things and why they may be occurring?

As you well know, I have been stating that Beto has a chance to win for months. I am not always right, but I base by opinions based on what I read and don’t read.

If you subscribe to the Chronicle and keep up with the comments, you would notice that the number of Russian trolls or American traitors are not defending their master as much, in fact a lot less. That is true across almost the entire country, Yahoo is a good barometer as quite a few Russian bots post there as well as alt-right trolls.

In 2014 Democrats primary was 500,000

In 2018 D were 1.1 million – see the increase

    In 2014 R primary 1.3 million

    In 2018 R primary 1.5 million

If suburban women are trending as indicating above it would suggest a close race. Polls would be misleading as the number of people calling themselves Republicans is declining about 3% less and the number of Independents is going up.

By the way I consider myself and independent.

C.L. I understand why you try to justify your vote for Trump to yourself.

    To thyself be true.

  4. Robbie Westmoreland says:

Hey, at least Trump in the White House has gotten Manny to move past his obsession with gay people.
Fear the future “Grand Unified Mannyworld Theory.”

  5. Manny Barrera says:

    an Independent …

So C.L. why do you defend Trump so often?

  6. Manny Barrera says:

Robbie I was against the Parker shower Bill, I have never been obsessed with Gay people, like Trump you lie.

What I pointed out that here in Harris County the Homosexual community was gathering power at the expense of the Latino community. For the last year or so I have not noticed it.

The fact that the Gay person that was the chair of the Democratic Party locked the doors on the DREAMERS an indication of how the Gay community treats the Latino Community?

I state facts as I see them. If it hurts so be it. But without the Latino community the first group of people that will get hurt are not the Latinos. I know at least 50 Spanish surname persons that will not vote for Democrats because of how the Gays have treated them.

So Robbie why do you love Trump so much?

I don’t hide from my past, there is a reason why I do things, I also, picked on Adrian Garcia quite often for leading the nation in deporting people. But I am not obsessed with him.

So Robbie your point is what?

  7. Manny Barrera says:

Oh I get it Robbie you love Trump and hate Brown people.

  8. Manny Barrera says:

Robbie trying to figure out why you hate me so much, I guess this may be a reason

    http://offthekuff.com/wp/?p=70906

But let explain something to you, the bathroom bills fell right into Republican hands, you and the minions like you are as responsible for people like Dan Patrick and Donald Trump getting elected.

Here in liberal Harris County the vote for and against the Shower Bill

    https://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/04/us/houston-voters-repeal-anti-bias-measure.html

Robbie get over it, quit hating minorities.

  9. C.L. says:

@Manny – when have you heard me defend Trump ?

  10. Manny Barrera says:

Andrew there is no logic presented by the argument made in the article. If the race is not close why debate at all.

Hotair is exactly what the name suggests. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Air

Don’t know what Beto will do, but five debates is overkill.

Debating in college settings and before judges is not the same as getting across to the common working men and women.

  11. Manny Barrera says:

C.L. the keyword at the moment to actually use when describing Republicans is “Corruption”. May change tomorrow but that seems to be sticking to the Republican Party.

How corrupt is Rafael “Ted” Cruz? Watch and listen to Senator Bernie Sanders tell us why,
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5hi9c0ms-s

Thanks to the Russian puppet/aka Trumpd

Did you ever see the Republican let up on Hillary Clinton? C.L. why do people like you think that the side of the working men and women must fight with different rules that ties their hands?

Everyone that wants to protect this country and the rights that have been won by all minorities that includes women and the Gay community should use the same tactics that the corrupt Republican Party uses.

  12. Manny Barrera says:

C.L. I use Russian puppet because when everything is said and done, there will be sufficient proof that Trump and his family and friends acted in cahoots with the Russians.

I personally don’t want him impeached I would prefer that he and his family get locked up for the crimes against our country.

  13. C.L. says:

@Manny. A decade ago the big banks and investment companies just about brought the US economy to its needs with shady dealings. Remember AIGs credit default swaps ? The US govt failed to imprison the fraud perps save for a few lone ducks. What makes you think they have any interest in imprisoning Hillary or Donald ?

  14. Manny Barrera says:

Did I mention Hillary? I only said Donald and probably some of his family members. State of New York is already doing criminal investigation on Donald and his children because of the foundation.

Interesting book if you want to look at what Bill Clinton may have been involved when he was governor of Arkansas. “Compromised” https://www.amazon.com/Compromised-Clinton-Bush-Terry-Reed-ebook/dp/B075JP2BR5

There is no direct proof that Clinton was profiting from the drug for arms during the Iran/Contra (Nicaragua). Training for the Contras was done in Arkansas and there is a suggestion that he may have profited.

The banks and the buyers followed the rules which were very lax but one person was found guilty.

Here is the Atlantic as to how bankers avoided jail

    https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/09/how-wall-streets-bankers-stayed-out-of-jail/399368/

The rules are made to where people can skirt them, ethically and morally they are wrong but not criminally. A crime is what the legislatures make criminal. Why would they want to put the people that give them money in jail?

  15. Manny Barrera says:

C.L. most of what the Republicans state about Democrats is bull shit but their core supporters are just so stupid or part of the corruption.

  16. Manny Barrera says:

By the way C.L. the Republicans and Russians (Same thing) are already hacking or attempting to hack email of Democrats. They are sleazy people.

    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/7/26/17619818/russia-claire-mccaskill-2018-midterm-hack

  17. Robbie Westmoreland says:

I swear, he’s like the local reincarnation of Serdar Argic railing against Armenians. Do we have evidence that Manny’s not a bot?

  18. C.L. says:

    @Robbie… zero evidence Manny’s not a bot.
