    That’s true. The Dems should focus on the merits of their own arguments against reform, instead of who’s saying what for the other side.

    I find it amusing the way the word reform has become transmogrified by the Rethuglicans. By his own admission, W’s proposal (such as we’ve been able to divine from the tea leaves – after all, he refuses to actually explain what he proposes as he doesn’t want to debate with himself) doesn’t solve the problem which, by growing consensus isn’t really a crisis.

    Incidentally, do you actually approve of this line of attack on AARP and what do you propose we do as an alternative?

    I haven’t noticed much emphasis on either gutting the military or on gay marriage in what I receive from them so I take the attack, both in fact and in tone, as wildly inappropriate. OTOH, I notice Bush just announced an increase in the VA copay. Maybe he’s a closet AARP member?

    I feel deceived, Charles. I followed your link and got to the ad for USANext in question hoping to see how an organization my mom’s AARP membership is supporting hot guy on guy action. Instead, I got nothing. Well, I shouldn’t say nothing, I did get a the standard spiel on privatization and a bunch of hard to explain pop-ups from Jeff Gannon’s website.

    So much for trying to appease Rethuglicans, as the AARP did with the Medicare bill. We tried to tell the AARP that loyalty buys no influence with this crowd: no matter what you’ve done for Rove in the past, the instant you cross him, he slimes you.

    The ad looks like a spoof The Daily Show might cook up. In fact, it looks like a barely-disguised version of the infamous “two whoppers” Rethuglican ad which claimed Kerry would ban the Bible and allow gay marriage.

    The sad thing is, there are quite a few dumbasses who’ll actually believe this horseshit.
