If the allegations against these folks are true, they are actually traitors. Now that we have a sterling example by which to compare other acts against, can we please shut up about innocent peace activists and Democrats who mildly-criticize President Bush being “traitors”? Furthermore, can we shut up about Karl Rove, and anyone else who may have done something extremely offensive and possibly illegal being “traitors”? We throw the dirty t-word around these days like it’s going out of style.
Thank you for being reasonable and of good faith.
And I was just about to call somebody a Nazi …
There’s a distinct possibility that Karl Rove’s actions literally fall under the rubric of treason. Not so with those of us who are merely anti-Bush.
Just because it’s a tired cliche doesn’t mean it ain’t an appropriate term for the person who outs a CIA agent for political gain and gets God knows how many “assets” – people – killed.
After four years of being called a traitor by wingnuts and their leaders, you’ll just have to accept the fact that some of us aren’t in the mood for bridge-building.
Such are the perils of Divide & Conquer. I didn’t start this crap, but I’m not about to start playing nice just because the going gets rough for Bush’s Brain.
I understand the urge to tone down the rhetoric, but if Rove is, in fact, the person who leaked Plame’s identity, then he is a traitor by definition. I believe Bush ’41 pushed for the very legislation making this act treason, back in the late 70s, IIRC.
If the handcuffs fit…
