So apparently some people don’t much care for Miley Cyrus covering “Smells Like Teen Spirit”:
Roy is a hater, while Yglesias is more philosophical. I can’t say I like it, but neither do I fear for the end of civilization. To me, the one thing you can’t do when covering an iconic tune is sound like a garage band, and that’s Miley’s sin here. Make it your own, by doing it in your own style. Not to everyone’s taste, of course, but unquestionably with her stamp on it. My advice to Miley would be to do it Party In The USA style. People still won’t like it, but it’ll be yours in a way that this isn’t. Trust me on this.
