The Chron makes the easy and obvious choice of endorsing CM Ed Gonzalez for a second full term in District H.
In the shuffle brought by the addition of two new City Council district seats, Houston’s District H has been moved east and become more distinctively Hispanic, picking up Denver Harbor and the Port of Houston. The formerly Heights-dominated district retains only a sliver of that neighborhood on the east, from Woodland Heights to Sunset Heights.
One-term incumbent Ed Gonzalez was a comfortable fit for the former district and will be an equally able representative for the reshaped District H at the City Hall horseshoe. We endorse Gonzalez for a second term.
My interview with CM Gonzalez, who remains my Council member after redistricting, is here. I will be voting for him.
