I guess I discovered blues music in college, with Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, and Robert Cray being my points of entry. That eventually led to Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, and so forth. An awful lot of rock musicians have gotten an awful lot of mileage plumbing the catalogs of the original bluesmen. Of course, the same can be said here, as King was covering a song from 1936. I had thought that Foghat’s “Drivin’ Wheel” was also a cover – they had a huge hit with I Just Want To Make Love To You, so the blues classics were definitely a source for them – but this is their own song:
And pretty awesome in its own right.
