We are officially down to the wire. The last group of interviews I have to do is with Mayoral candidates. I’ve got six of them for you, which will run through Friday this week plus Monday next week, in the order they were done. We begin with Sylvester Turner, making his third run after a close runoff loss in 1991 and a third-place finish in 2003. Turner has served as State Rep. in District 139 for 25 years, where he has served as Speaker Pro Tem and as a key member of the Appropriations committee and on the conference committees that negotiate the final budget. A native of Acres Homes and a fixture on the Texas Monthly Ten Best Legislators list, he is a founding partner of the Barnes and Turner law firm. Here’s the interview:
You can see all of my interviews as well as finance reports and other information on candidates on my 2015 Election page.
you know, I can say, as someone who often disagrees with him on issues I genuinely like him. He is at least honest in his views and advocates for them passionately with a respectful demeanor. I always loved watching him hanging out at the the podium during floor debates.
