Media whoring

The folks at KPFT have invited me to join them on the air tomorrow night at 10 PM for post-election punditry, along with some people with actual qualifications. No, I don’t know what they were thinking either, but hey, it ought to be fun and I’m flattered to have been asked. Tune in to 90.1 on your FM dial in Houston or catch their web feed and see for yourself if I’ve got a voice made for blogging to go along with my made-for-radio face.

    Yeah, he’s got one of them Yankee accents, I think.

    Then again, I’ve only talked to him once, and that was over the phone.

    I’m glad to hear your getting more media exposure. I’ll be sure to tune into KPFT tonight!!!

    Well, Chuck’s voice is distinctive. Last week at a reception/wine tasting Chuck was talking when the photographer approached him and said “Did you go to Trinity?” Of the five people in our little cluster four went to Trinity all at the same time as the photographer but she only recognized Chuck and she did so by his voice.

    10 PM? That’s past my bedtime. 🙂

    Seriously, though, I’m used to staying up a little late on Election Day, but that will be a bit more of a problem now that we’re not on Pacific Time any more. We used to start getting results after 5:00 PM and, when it’s not that close (i.e. unlike 2000), we usually knew the winner by bedtime. Not any more, and maybe not ever again except for absolute landslides.

    I spent several years doing telephone tech support for the large multinational firm where I work. I can’t tell you how many times someone I met whom I’d previously only known on the phone would say to me “Oh, sure, I recognize your voice”.
