I’ve discussed the recent history of HD144 in my previous two interview posts, including how it was won by Democrats in 2012 and lost in 2014. The person who won and then lost those elections is Mary Ann Perez, who was the leading votegetter in that second race but could not overcome the decline in turnout. Perez served on the Economic & Small Business Development and International Trade & Intergovernmental Affairs committees during her term in the Legislature. Prior to that, she served as Trustee on the HCC Board, and she is the owner of her own insurance agency. I did an interview with her for the 2012 primary, which you can find here.
